The Beirut-based Baggha group specializes in making furniture with premium fabric, but workers are now devoting their time to sewing and making colorful silk face masks to help limit the spread of the new Corona virus. Earnings from the masks, which cost about $ 35, go to the nurses on the frontline of the fight against disease.
“The gags are sad, but when we colored them and gave them a look that fits fashion, we drew a smile, we want to make gruesome things beautiful,” said Maria Hebri, one of the founders of Boukja, and Beirut residents such as Mustafa showed their happiness with colored gags. He said that merchants and pharmacies raised medical respirator prices, so he sought a reusable option.
