Khaled Murtaji, a member of Al-Ahly’s board, recounted the scenes of contracting with veteran Manuel Jose, the former technical director of the Red Genie in his third term with the Red Devils.
“In 2010, when the results got worse, Al-Ahly had approached the contract with German Winfried Scheffer,” Murtaji said while hosting the OnTime canned program on OnTime Sports.
He continued: “In the month of December of the same year I was invited to attend the Club World Cup in the Emirates, and there was Mustafa Fahmy and Issa Hayatu.”
He continued, “Mustafa Fahmy loves Manuel Jose, and he asked me to intervene to return again. Indeed, I had contacted Manuel Jose, and he agreed to return, but it was necessary to agree with the club president Hassan Hamdi and the Football Committee.”
“Then I said to Mustafa Fahmy, let us convince Captain Hassan Hamdi in the presence of Issa Hayatou, the president of the African Union, and indeed we had a session and entered Hayatou as a former president of the Cameroonian Union that dealt with Schaefer and said that he does not fit Al Ahly, and he persuaded Captain Hassan Hamdi to decide immediately the return of Manuel Jose, Then he told me, he moved in complete secrecy until he returned to Egypt and spoke about the matter with the football committee and the club’s board of directors“.
He added: “Indeed, Manuel Jose was brought from Cairo Airport on December 31, 2010.”
Murtaji concluded his speech by saying: “Manuel Josiah requested that the press conference for his presentation be on 1-6-2010.”
