PARIS (Reuters) – French Health Minister Olivier Ferrand said on Sunday he wanted to unveil, by summer, a new support plan for hospitals and medical staff working in the front line to tackle the emerging Corona virus pandemic.
Ferran added in an interview with the weekly newspaper “Le Journal du Dimanche” that is published every Sunday that consultations with the concerned parties and representatives of the health sector will start from May 25.
“I want to move quickly. I want to present the plan this summer and include everything that could be brought up in the next social security budget. ”
He pointed out that the new plan will increase the salaries of health workers in addition to the rewards they received during the Corona crisis.
“The nation must make a great effort to acknowledge their role,” he said.
The plan will also include a realignment of investments and more flexibility during working hours.
“If hospital workers want to work longer and increase their salaries, that should be possible,” he said. Therefore we must review the organization of working time in hospitals. ”
