Veteran striker Jefferson Farfan was infected with the new Coruna virus, according to what was announced on Saturday by his club Lokomotiv Moscow, becoming the first case in the Russian Football League expected to resume on 21 and New.

The Capital Club wrote in his Twitter account: “Our virus has been diagnosed by Corona Virus, our player Jefferson Farfan. We wish him good health, Jeff! Quickly recover!”

“He is in Moscow and he has not been taken to hospital, this decision will be taken according to the instructions of the authorities and doctors,” club president Anatoly Michchriakov told Ria-Novosti.

Farfan, 35, has played with Lokomotiv since 2017, but has not played any games this season due to a knee injury he suffered last summer in Cuba, America, with his country.

The Russian Federation of the game announced Friday that it will resume its competitions on June 21 without fans, despite the increasing injuries in recent days.

Russia has become the second most affected country in the world by number of recorded infections (more than 270,000 cases), behind the United States.
