Marcus Rushford, the England soccer star, has the potential to compete with the French Saint-Germain Pavilion, French youth Killian Mbappe for the “Golden Ball” award in the near future, according to Italian Matteo Darmian, a former Rashford fellow in Manchester United.

Rushford, 22, is one of the elements of Manchester United Academy that joined the first team, as he managed to establish himself as one of the best strikers for the Premier League since his rush to the scene in 2016.

During an interview with the British newspaper (The Guardian) on Sunday, Darmian, who played in United between 2015 and 2019, recalls how impressed he was in his first training session at the club’s Carrington base, where he is expected to reach his former teammate to the level of Mbappe, who was crowned With France last World Cup team in Russia two years ago.

“I still remember Marcus Rashford’s first coaching session with the first team as it was yesterday,” Darmian told the British newspaper. “I was impressed by his performance immediately and told myself this is a great player.”

“He did a lot of impressive things for the player of his age and the way he developed in every detail really liked me. If he continues this approach, I am convinced that he can be the winner of the Golden Globe Award in the future,” Darmian added.

“I liked him more than all the players on the team. He is very young and can still improve. For me he can reach Kylian Mbappe and compete with him for the golden ball as the best player in the world for years to come,” he added.

Darmian, 30, left Old Trafford last summer and signed a four-year contract with Italian Parma, to return to his country four years after his departure to England, although he has many beautiful memories of his time in the English Premier League.
