A rare astronomical phenomenon near Earth today, Friday, May 15, 2020 07:47 pm

Astronomers say that the comet Swan and his 11 million-mile tail will be visible in the sky this evening as it can be seen with the naked eye.

According to the British Daily Mail newspaper, the comet, called Ice Roller, which was discovered by astronomer Michael Mattiazzo from Australia, has already crossed the Earth but is getting brighter as it approaches the sun.

The newspaper stated that it is better to see the comet from the southern hemisphere, but those in the northern hemisphere will still be able to see it low on the horizon in the hours before dawn.

According to the European Space Agency, the comet Swan is currently located about 53 million miles from Earth and is expected to be a “significant” comet in terms of visibility.

The newspaper pointed out that the comet with snowball and its green-colored dust visits the interior of the solar system once every 11,597 years and has a long blue tail that stretches behind 10 million miles.
