UAE Football Association extends suspension of activity


The federation suspended the activity on 15 March for four weeks, and today decided to extend it indefinitely “after assessing the situation with the competent authorities.”

The federation has previously formed a coordinating working group that includes representatives of it and the Professional League to develop scenarios about the proposed dates for the return of the First and Second Division League and the establishment of the Emirates Cup final, in addition to studying players ’contracts. The team is scheduled to present its recommendations to a meeting of the Federation, to be held later on Sunday, in order to take appropriate decisions later.

The federation confirmed that the decision to stop sports activity includes the national teams, the first-class league led by Al-Ahly youth by a difference of six points from Al-Ain after setting up 19 stages out of 26, and the Emirates Cup competition, which Al Ain and Al-Dhafra qualified for its final match, and the second-class league.

Subsequently, the Emirates Federation announced in a statement that it had seen the report of the coordination team, “and it was permissible for the clubs to sign supplements of collective consensual contracts for all players and coaches, including postponing the reduction of their salaries for a certain period from the date of March 15, 2020 until the return of the sports activity.”

He continued, “Concerning the national players and coaches, the board of directors allowed the clubs to deduct a percentage of the monthly salary for a temporary period of no more than 40 percent, provided that the minimum salary for the player after deduction is not less than 15,000 dirhams for professional clubs, but for first-class clubs and coaches The temporary deduction rate for the salary shall not be more than 40%, provided that the minimum salary after deduction is not less than 10 thousand dirhams.

As for foreign players and coaches, the regulations of the International Football Association are applied and its organizational rules, since the internal decisions issued by the Football Association are not binding before the Judicial and Arbitration Committees in FIFA.

On the other hand, the UAE federation of the game canceled all activities of the age groups for the 2019-2020 season in addition to the women’s league.
