Trump’s tweet comes yet The arrival of the new Iranian Quds Force Commander, Ismail Qani, to Baghdad This week, according to Iraqi officials told the Associated Press today, Wednesday, in light of the failure of the Iraqi blocs to agree to form a new government.
Qayni, Commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, arrived in Baghdad on Monday evening, on his first public official visit to Iraq since he succeeded Qassem Soleimani. His arrival at Baghdad airport came amid a curfew that has been going on for days in Iraq to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, which has suspended travel to and from the country.
Soleimani was killed on January 3 with the leader of the Iraqi popular crowd, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in a US air strike near Baghdad airport. This attack led to the deterioration of US-Iraqi relations and prompted Iraqi lawmakers to call for the withdrawal of US forces from the country, in a non-binding resolution.
He left Baghdad Airport, under heavy guard, in a convoy of three cars. Officials said that my meeting has met a number of leaders, including Hadi Al-Amri, the head of the Al-Hikma movement Ammar Al-Hakim, and President Barham Saleh.
After the assassination of Soleimani, Iran bombed American forces in Iraq, causing them some indirect injuries such as concussion, but without casualties.
Senior Iranian regime leaders stressed that revenge operations for Suleiman’s death would continue.
