A source in the Saudi Monitoring and Anti-Corruption Commission, “Integrity”, announced today, Sunday, the arrest of two leaders of the Ministry of Health in Riyadh, after they were involved in a financial and administrative corruption case in light of the Kingdom’s spending to contain the emerging Corona virus crisis.
The Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”, quoting an official source of the corruption commission, “Integrity”, said that the authority had initiated a financial and administrative corruption case involving two health affairs leaders in the Riyadh region in association with six people, one of whom is the owner of a hotel, “noting that they” took advantage of state spending Generous to contain the current crisis related to the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) and to provide adequate housing for citizens returning from abroad to spend the quarantine period, by requiring commissions on hotels to obtain the opportunity to contract with the Ministry of Health, which resulted in the state charging financial expenses that exceed the fair price for the service.
Waas explained, quoting the source, that one of the leaders of the Ministry of Tourism violated his job duties by passing an exaggerated price offer to the Ministry of Health by virtue of his work in the Ministry of Tourism, for the purpose of providing housing service for citizens returning from abroad to spend the quarantine period, noting that “the investigation with him ended up with Acknowledging his breach of his job duties and neglecting public money, and work is underway to complete the necessary rights of those involved in preparation for referring them to the judiciary to consider what was attributed to them.
Saudi Arabia recorded 9,362 cases of coronavirus and 97 deaths.
