Sharjah Electricity Company concludes the preventive maintenance program in 183 distribution stations – across the Emirates – News and Reports


The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority has concluded periodic maintenance work with 183 power distribution stations, 33 effort across the Emirate of Sharjah, and has also implemented an extensive preventive maintenance program for the extensions of the electricity network and transformers in different areas of Sharjah, in preparation for the reception of the summer months.

Dr. Eng. Rashid Al-Lim, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, confirmed that the Authority is working at full capacity to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to develop electricity networks in all regions of the Emirate of Sharjah and achieve stability and stability in the network and provide services with the latest international standards And review the extensions, perform maintenance and continuous follow-up of all stations and networks.


He explained that the authority has prepared specific programs for periodic and preventive maintenance that begin on October 15 and end April 15 of each year, as the percentage of loads decreases and includes maintenance of distribution stations and transformers scattered in various regions of the Emirate of Sharjah. The Authority also attaches great importance to periodic and preventive maintenance work and the provision of spare parts Original and guarantee its quality to maintain the devices and equipment and stations and ensure their efficiency.

Lim explained that the maintenance work for the lines, connections and electrical transformers implemented by the authority in the city of Sharjah, included the renewal and change of a number of connections and cables and the replacement of a number of transformers with new ones in a number of old areas that were suffering from frequent breakdowns during the last period.

Inspection teams

He emphasized that the authority is following through the inspection teams random additions that harm the electrical network, and makes great efforts to face any emergency conditions, and works to provide capabilities, and selecting the best technical competencies, training and qualification, to work in the maintenance departments, and also takes into account the highest safety and quality systems in the work to meet any conditions Emergency.

Al-Leem pointed out that the authority seeks to develop operational and technical operations, which work to monitor the electrical network for the city of Sharjah and provide operating and maintenance requirements to reduce faults and prevent them by conducting all the necessary technical maneuvers.

In addition to reviewing and implementing maintenance programs, developing and improving the electrical network, and dealing with some emergency situations of power outages as soon as possible.


He emphasized that all substitution, renovation, maintenance and alterations work depend on the technicians and engineers in the Authority’s maintenance departments, and that the application of modern maintenance concepts that include preventive and corrective maintenance ensure high operational efficiency with the highest levels of safety for workers and the lowest costs.

For his part, Saif Ahmed Al Obaidli, Director of the 33 Stations Office, explained that all 33 kilowatts of distribution stations, which number 183 in various parts of Sharjah, were maintained.

Periodic maintenance work for distribution stations includes replacing parts, checking and changing oils, examining pneumatic insulation capsules, checking protective protective devices, checking and adding insulation gas to switches, checking capacitors and transformers to ensure their efficiency, which contributes to achieving stability and stability for electrical networks and providing services with the best specifications.

And that preventive maintenance preserves the equipment and helps to increase the life span of the units, increase production, improve efficiency, and reduce incidence of breakdowns .
