UEFA President UEFA confirmed on Monday that local leagues across the continent are ready to resume activity behind closed doors, in an effort to reduce the damage caused by the outbreak of the emerging Corona virus.Covid-19 caused the suspension of various sports competitions around the world, without excluding the vast majority of European national championships and continental competitions of clubs and teams that were suspended indefinitely, according to Sky News Arabia.

UEFA also had to postpone the Euro 2020 tournament until the summer of next year.

The European Union President, Slovenian Alexander Ceverin, considered that the resumption of competitions would be an important step towards returning to normalcy and avoiding the huge financial losses of the championships.

“I think there are options that could allow us to resume and complete the cup competitions,” Ceferin said in an interview with the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”.”We may have to resume the matches without an audience, but the most important thing is to play the matches,” he added.

“It is too early to say that we cannot complete the season. It will be a terrible impact on clubs and championships. It is better to play behind closed doors, rather than not playing at all,” Cheverin said.
He continued: “In such difficult times, this would bring happiness to people and a feeling that normal life returned even if it was only watching matches on TV.”The Slovenian noted that “all activities are organized to start again, and that everyone needs to find their life.” “If safety measures are respected and if the authorities give the green light, training can resume as usual. We will need more approvals in order for the matches to return,” he said.

UEFA President explained that if the tournaments return soon, then the European Champions League and European League (Europa League) can be played in parallel, without setting a specific date for the finalists.

Chevirin stressed that he does not support the continuation of the season until September and October because “it will have a significant impact” on the coming season 2020-2021 (…) We can finish, but we must respect the decisions taken by the authorities. The priority is the health of the fans, players and coaches. “
