The struggle between the old and the modern is an idea based on the difference in time, and the difference in people’s perception of things, and it reflects the gap between generations, whether in art or literature or other different fields, due to several reasons including: different thinking, different taste, and the development of things according to time And the interaction of people with certain issues differs according to the age in which they live, and here lies the essence of the conflict, and accordingly the conflict will remain ongoing as long as the time continues.

In a rare video dating back to the early seventies, it was shared by social media pioneers, for a television report exploring the opinion of street audiences in the “Two Days Countries” cinema, and its most prominent pioneer at that time, Leader Adel Imam And the great star Nour al-Sharif, and people criticized her, asking: “Where is the time of beautiful art”? It is the phrase that is often repeated all the time and when, and it is noticed in the sockets of these people using the same opinions with the same formulas that we hear in our present time with different names and numbers.

During the report, which dates back to the eighties, a simple man, expressing his opinion about the cinematic works presented at the time, said that the new films do not like “neither the subject nor the actors”, thus he expressed his opinion, praising at the same time the films of Ismail Yassin, Bechara Wakim and Abdel Salam Nabulsi, wondering who They are the stars of today, to mention the names of Adel Imam, Nour al-Sharif and Mahmoud Yassin in denunciation.

During the report, the artist Adel Imam responded to the opinion of this simple man, saying: Every age has its characteristics, characteristics and political and social conditions. Cinema for a people with a density of 20 million differs from cinema that is presented to a people with a density of 50 million, so each of them has different economic and social conditions, just as we cannot We describe today’s cinema as a downside cinema, as evidenced by the existence of cinemas with good new writers and directors.

The public also described the cinema at that time as vulgar, accepted by the audience with a morally sloping level, to return the leader, our generation has films with a very high thought, to surprise him another that he wishes to see films such as Youssef Wahbi, Hussein Sedky, Anwar Wagdy, Abdel Halim Hafez.

Here, al-Sharif intervenes, in the photographer’s magazine in 1951, he found the same news that he reads today that attacks regression in art and ethics, and he always hears the phrase “the days of the sweetest time”, and he also responded to the saying “cinema of the sweetest time” saying with confidence: “He saw The person without disturbing that the cinema of my time is better. “If we have worked a statistic since the date of the establishment of the Egyptian cinema, according to the number of films that were produced and how many of them the television agreed to broadcast in comparison to what is approved today, we will find that a censor prevented the broadcasting of many films, unlike our time.”

Professor Nour El-Sherif added, “It is unfair to say that cinema of time is better than cinema today. There are many bad films that are not known about anything, and today we find new topics such as political cinema, which the old cinema did not address.”

Nour El-Sherif believes that the old films had only the specifications of the commercial film, meaning that in every movie you must find an operetta that includes all Arabic dialects, in order for the work to be marketed in Arab countries, and if you delete this operetta from the film does not affect its construction, and in view of comic films We will find many of them that rely on laughter, with the exception of Rihani, because it is a rare example of high-end comedy, and in the end, today’s cinema expresses its reality more than cinema of time.

The report concluded with the opinion of one of the public who criticizes the prices of the cinema ticket, which amounted to one pound, so how can his family of 9 people enter a movie and pay 9 pounds at once, describing the matter as “unreasonable”, so it is better for him to buy 2 kilos of meat.
