European shares decline with the return of concerns about the economic damage from Corona | Market words

European shares fell Friday on concerns about severe and continuing economic damage from the Corona virus pandemic, after a report raised doubts about progress in developing a Covid-19 treatment.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index fell 1.1 percent, while the UK’s FTSE 100 index fell 1.3 percent as data showed that UK retail sales collapsed in March.

All major European sectors retreated in early trading, while the banks index led declines, as Standard & Poor’s reduced the credit rating of Commerzbank by one degree and reduced the future view of Deutsche Bank to negative from stable.
