Spanish football club Espanyol has announced that it has reached an agreement to reduce the salaries of its players and extend the contracts of those that expire on June 30, due to the crisis arising from the outbreak of the new Corona virus.

The club said in a statement that there will be a 19 percent reduction in the annual salary if the season does not resume, while 4 percent will be deducted if it is completed.

In addition, nine players (including goalkeeper Diego Lopez and Argentine Jonathan Calleri), whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season on June 30, agreed to extend until the actual end of the 2019-2020 season.
