Elon Musk Offers Free Respirators To COVID-19 Pandemics

Elon Musk

Elon Musk has extended its offer to manufacture and deliver ventilation equipment to countries with a lack of equipment in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tesla CEO said that the equipment will be provided free of charge to any hospital in the areas where the company’s electric cars are delivered.

He said on Twitter on Tuesday, March 31st: “We have additional respirators approved by the FDA … They will be shipped to hospitals all over the world within Tesla delivery areas. The only requirement is that they are used immediately to patients, and are not stored in warehouses. ”

Musk previously promised to give hundreds of ventilators to hospitals in New York City and across New York State, which had the largest number of Covid-19 cases in the United States.

There are more than 825,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide, resulting in more than 40,000 deaths.

The United States was the country worst hit by the deadly virus, with 176,000 infections and 3,431 deaths.

Ventilators have proven critical in treating severe cases of the disease, as the new virus attacks the lungs and causes breathing difficulties.

Tesla will use its huge factory in Buffalo, New York, to manufacture breathing apparatus, which has been closed as part of containment measures to limit the spread of the epidemic. Musk said he would reopen the factory “as soon as humanly possible”.

The American automaker, General Motors Corp., said it expected to produce 10,000 respirators a month.

Ford also plans to manufacture up to 50,000 respirators for Covid-19 patients in the next 100 days at the Rawsonville Components plant in Michigan.

Musk faced criticism earlier this month after tweeting that the panic surrounding the spread of the Coruna virus was “stupid”.
