“Philippe Coutinho underwent surgery on his right ankle, removing soft crumbs,” the Bavarian club said in a statement. “The surgery was a success. The Brazilian will start his recovery program within approximately 14 days.”
It will be possible for Coutinho (27 years) to return to complete the remainder of the German League, after suspending his competitions since mid-March due to the outbreak of the Coruna virus.
It is scheduled to resume the Bundesliga on May 9, without the masses, on condition of obtaining a government green light, due to the ban on public gatherings until the end of next August.
After loaning him from Barcelona, the former Liverpool star did not succeed in imposing himself in the German champions squad, which made Bayern the option to buy his contract for 80 million euros, and his return to the English league became a strong candidate.
Bayern currently tops the Bundesliga standings, 4 points behind their nearest competitors, and remains a contender for the Champions League title.
