The announcement of the cancellation of art festivals that was expected to take place next summer, due to the spread of Corona virus, continues. After the announcement of the cancellation of the “Mawazine” festival in Morocco, the organizers of the “International Carthage Festival” announced that it was also frozen. In a statement hours ago, Tunisian Minister of Culture Shiraz Al-Atiri announced the cancellation of the 56th session of the “Carthage Festival” after the outbreak. She pointed out that “the decision is motivated by the mitigation of the economic and social repercussions of the current global crisis on the cultural sector, in addition to the inability of international movements at the present time due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in the world.” The administration of the “International Carthage Festival” was supposed to start in April, but the repercussions of the Corona Virus forced it to change the content of programming. This is the first time that the “International Carthage Festival” has been absent from its audience since its founding in the 1960s.It is noteworthy that a group of local festivals will be announced in succession of canceling summer festivals or restricting them to local parties only, among them the international “Beiteddine” festivals, which recently announced their absence from the summer parties.
