(Reuters) – US stock indexes fell more than 2 percent on Thursday as the rapid spread of the Corona virus in the United States led to California declaring a state of emergency, while airline stocks were negatively affected by the failure of demand for travel.

By 9048 EST (0248 GMT), the Dow Jones industrial average fell 710.78 points, or 2.62 percent, to 26380.08 points, and the S&P 500 index fell 76.15 points, or 2.43 percent, to 3053.97 points.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 191.55 points, or 2.12 percent, to 8,826.54 points.
