Preparations are in full swing for the launch of the Abu Dhabi Desert Rally, in conjunction with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of its founding, which will be held from 21-26 this month, and constitutes the second round of the World Cup for the Long Desert Rally Championship (VIA) for cars and rest cars, and the opening round For the World Championships of the Long Desert Rally (FEM) for motorcycles and quad bikes.
Mohamed Bin Sulayem, President of the Emirates Motor and Motorcycle Organization, the organizer of the rally, and Vice President of the International Motor Federation (FIA) for sport said: “We are preparing for the Abu Dhabi Desert Rally with the utmost commitment, and we look forward to making this version of the rally an unforgettable memory, on the occasion of the anniversary. He added: Detailed health guidelines have been developed for the Abu Dhabi Desert Rally, by the medical director, Dr. Sean Bethbridge, who heads the highly skilled medical team, dedicated to this event, and who performs most of his duties in the desert rally dramatic tracks in the Al Dhafra region.
The 30th annual edition of the rally will witness a strong global assortment of the best international drivers and riders, who will face another test of skill and endurance, through impressive terrain, through giant sand dunes and sabkha plains.
After the launch emblem, the following morning, drivers of cars and motorcycles head out of the capital, Abu Dhabi, towards the desert of the Al Dhafra region. Over a period of five days, the riders, technicians, officials, nurses, volunteers and media personnel will camp in the desert camp, specially equipped for this occasion, and that the drivers return to the Yas Marina Circuit at five o’clock this Thursday afternoon, to close the rally.
