Today, the G20 summit kicks off today, exceptionally, in time and manner, as leaders of the twenty strongest countries will meet economically with other countries and organizations, particularly the World Health Organization, to talk about what can be done to confront the global crisis of Corona.
He will head the king SalmanToday’s summit meeting, after stressing, on Wednesday evening, that the world is experiencing a critical time in its response to the Corona pandemic, which affects people, health systems and the global economy.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also hoped that the meeting would come out with initiatives that fulfill the hopes of the peoples of the world, enhance the role of governments of member states, and unite their efforts to confront the epidemic.
King Salman’s speech expressed the aspirations of the group, which took it upon itself to address previous global crises, in cooperation with international organizations.
A virtual meeting of finance ministers
It is mentioned that the summit was preceded by a virtual meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bankers, where they agreed to develop a “plan of action” to deal with the outbreak of the virus that the International Monetary Fund expects to result in a global recession.
In addition, it is expected that the summit will base its decisions on the results of the meeting of finance ministers, to determine the requirements and response measures needed to confront Corona.
The Presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Group of Twenty, announced the holding of the extraordinary leaders ’virtual summit on 02 Shaban 1441 AH corresponding to March 26, 2020, headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Members of the G20 will participate in the invited countries, which includes Spain, Jordan, Singapore and the Federal Republic of Switzerland, as well as from international organizations, the World Health Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group, the United Nations, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the Financial Stability Council, the International Labor Organization, and the Economic Cooperation Organization Development, and the World Trade Organization.
In addition, the regional organizations will represent the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in its capacity as President of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Republic of South Africa as President of the African Union, the United Arab Emirates as President of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, and the Republic of Rwanda as President of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development.
