The Egyptian armed forces mourn a brigade that died from the new Corona virus

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Sunday the death of Major General Khaled Shaltout, after he was infected with the emerging coronavirus during sterilization and disinfection operations.

In its obituary to the brigade, the Egyptian armed forces said that he had died during the sterilization and disinfection operations of Corona, without giving further details.

Egypt had recorded 294 cases of the virus, including 41 cures, as of March 21, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health spokesman, Khaled Mujahid.

Mujahid confirmed, on Saturday, that the number of deaths from the virus that has become a “global pandemic” reached 10 cases.
