He said at a meeting of the Space Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Scientists of the Institute of Space Research designed a model navigation unit for the promising manned spacecraft “Oryol”. This unit will be used for distant interplanetary flights, with the moon map to determine locations in the case of unmanned flights. He added: The Russian lunar module “Luna-26”, which is scheduled to launch in 2024, will draw, before that, a three-dimensional (3D) map of the moon.
It should be noted that the first flight of the new spacecraft “Oryol” into orbit will be in the year 2023. According to Dmitriy Rogozin, its first landing on the moon will be in 2030.
