Pentagon: First American soldier dies affected by complications of the Coronavirus

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The US military recorded its first death from its Coronary Virus Infection (COFED-19) infection, according to a Pentagon statement.

According to the Pentagon statement, published on the ministry’s website on Monday, a member of the New Jersey Army National Guard died last Saturday. It was found that the patient was positive for the results of his Corona virus and was hospitalized since 21 March.

For his part, Defense Secretary Mark Esber said: “Today is a sad day for the Department of Defense, where we lost the first American member of the (military) service – active, backup, or guard – due to the Corona virus.”

“This is a scathing loss for our military community, and we express our condolences to his family, friends, fellow civilians and the entire National Guard community. The news of this loss reinforces our determination to work closely with our inter-agency partners to stem the spread of Covid-19.”

The US Department of Defense said that since January it had adopted measures to protect its members and their families from the Corona virus, including mandating social estrangement, ending some work and training activities, and providing testing and care for military personnel.

According to the latest census of CNN Health, there are at least 160,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States, while 2,948 people have died.
