Brazilian legend Edson Arans de Nascimento expressed “PeleFriday regretted the death of Amadeo Carreto, saying that he was “one of the best guards in the history of Argentina.”
“Carreto has been a role model in years in which football has not been a sport of glory, as is the case now,” Pele said in his various accounts on social media.

Carreto, considered one of the legends of Argentine football, died today at the age of 93 in Rovino, his hometown.
Carreto has guarded River Plate for two decades and won 12 titles with him and was president of the club until the end of 2013. The legendary goalkeeper crowned the Nations Cup with Argentina in Brazil in 1964.
