Italy, to where? .. More than 4 thousand deaths in Corona

Italy on Friday crossed the threshold of 4,000 deaths due to the new Corona epidemic (Covid-19), which pushed the states of New York and California to impose a general quarantine, at a time when more than 800 million people around the world were called to go home.

These two states, which are considered the economic lungs of the country, have decided to stop all non-essential activities and prevent gatherings. The decisions mean nearly 60 million people, and include the cities of New York and Los Angeles and the Silicon Valley.

The state of Illinois, which includes the three largest cities in the United States, Chicago, also passed a “stay at home” decision, whose restrictions are slightly lighter than the other two.

However, US President Donald Trump on Friday ruled out imposing a general stone across the country, while the United States expanded the closure of land borders to Mexico alongside Canada.

“I don’t think we will consider it necessary one day,” Trump said at a White House press conference.

The epidemic has caused the death of at least 11,129 people since its appearance in December, according to an AFP tally based on official figures Friday at 19:00 GMT. And among them about six thousand on the European continent, which has become a new epidemic.

And confirmed about 260 thousand people all over the world.

Evangelicals come with support

Corona has claimed 627 lives in Italy in the last 24 hours, in a new record that raises the death toll to more than four thousand in this country that has become the most affected in the world.

In the Lombardy region in the north of the country, which is the hardest hit, with more than 2,500 deaths recorded, the American Evangelical organization, “SMARITIAN PIRS”, has set up a temporary hospital equipped with an intensive care unit to contribute to helping overcrowded local institutions.

On Friday, France counted 78 new deaths in the last 24 hours, raising the total death toll in the country to 450.

Spain has also crossed the 1,000-year threshold, with almost 20,000 casualties recorded.

In Iran, anxiety prevailed on New Year’s Day due to the spread of the epidemic, which claimed more lives (1,433), but that did not deter millions from moving between the country’s provinces to celebrate the occasion.

For its part, the British government decided on Friday to close restaurants, cinemas, sports and theaters in the context of tightening control measures.

Similar decisions were issued around the world, similar to Tunisia, where quarantine was imposed in the country, but without specifying the date of its entry into force.

In Sudan, the Minister of Health announced on Friday that it had recorded the second injury.

In West Africa, the Ivory Coast announced the closure of the borders with Burkina Faso starting from Sunday evening, amid allowing the movement of goods to continue.

In South Africa, even if the number of infected people has not exceeded two hundred so far, the disease is spreading so rapidly that sixty percent of the population can be infected, according to the authorities.

On the American continent, Cuba announced the closure of its borders to non-residents, after it had tried in recent days to preserve the largest possible amount of tourism activity that is considered the main engine of the island.

“We are all in stone.”

More than 800 million people in more than 30 countries were invited to go to their homes, whether due to public quarantine decisions, recommendations, or curfews, according to a census conducted by AFP.

“We are all in stone,” said New York Governor Andrew Kuomo.

In turn, the US military was ready to convert about 10,000 hotel beds in New York into medical beds “within three or four weeks”.

And experts at the United Nations have warned that there are about three billion people who do not have the minimum means to fight the virus, such as water and soap.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tidros Adhanum Ghebrysos, considered Friday that the experience of the Chinese city of Wuhan, from which the virus began spreading and where no local source of infection has been recorded since Thursday, gives “hope” to the world.

And China is now able to supply the world with equipment that is often short. Friday’s plane delivered more than a million protective mask to the Czech Republic.

The economy was hit

Along with a health tragedy, the emerging Corona virus may plunge the world into an economic downturn despite billions of dollars quickly being allocated in the United States and Europe.

New York Governor Como said he was ready to take “full responsibility” for the “negative repercussions on the economy” as a result of the measures taken.

On Friday, the European Union announced the suspension of financial discipline rules, in an unprecedented measure that allows member states to spend as much as needed to combat the epidemic.

The International Labor Organization has warned that 25 million jobs will be threatened in the world in the absence of a coordinated international response. The European Central Bank also warned that the European economy “will shrink a lot.”

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange closed at close to more than 5%, as did European stock markets, with the Paris (+ 5,01%) and Frankfurt (3,70%) rising.
On the other hand, the Dow Jones Index closed at-4.55%, ending the worst week in Wall Street since the 2008 financial crisis.
