Iranian Ministry of Health: Death toll from Corona virus rises to 1556

An official at the Iranian Ministry of Health said that the total number of deaths due to the spread of the Coruna virus in the country, rose Saturday by more than 100 to 1556, while the number of infections exceeded 20 thousand.

The total number of deaths in Iran, one of the countries most affected by the virus, was 1,433 Friday, while the number of confirmed cases reached 19,644.

Kyanosh Jahanpur, a spokesman for the Health Ministry, told state television that the number of people infected with the disease reached 20,610 on Saturday.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that the measures of social separation to counter the spread of the Corona virus in the country, including travel restrictions, will only be applied for a period ranging from two to three weeks, as the crisis is expected to ease by that time.

In statements broadcast on state television, Rouhani added that Iran “must do everything necessary for the return of economic production to normal” and accused “anti-revolutionaries” of plotting to stop economic production.
