The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen today, Saturday, in the temporary capital of Aden, launched a campaign of cleaning and environmental sanitation using the latest equipment and mechanisms to displace the accumulated waste, which amounts to 3 thousand cubic meters of waste.
The cleaning and environmental sanitation campaign aims to improve the urban character and reduce the health, environmental and visual pollution. The campaign will contribute to raising the level of performance of the cleaning fund in Aden to provide more advanced and higher quality services to Yemeni citizens.
The hygiene and environmental sanitation campaign includes 10 districts in 8 directorates: Sheikh Othman, Mansoura (Abdel Aziz), Mansoura (Cairo), Dar Saad, Inma and Al Shaab, Brega, Khormaksar, Al Mualla, Al Tawahi, Sirah, in cooperation with the Cleaning Fund in Aden.
The campaign was launched in the presence of the Governor of Aden Governorate, Ahmed Salem Rabie, and the head of the delegation of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, Eng. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al Hadi. During the inauguration, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the Clean and Improving Fund for the city of Aden, as a contribution to improving and developing Aden.
The governor of Aden governorate, Ahmed Salem Rabie, affirmed that the support of the Saudi program for the development and reconstruction of Yemen is endless and does not stop, adding that the campaign will contribute to curbing the spread of epidemics and diseases.
The governor explained that the equipment received by the governorate is part of comprehensive equipment that will arrive consecutively to support the cleaning sector, noting that the equipment and mechanisms that were received are very modern and advanced.
Engineer Muhammad bin Abdullah Al Hadi, head of the delegation of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, said during the launch of the campaign: that it is based on continuous support from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – for the brotherhood in the Republic of Yemen, and to complete the plan of the program aimed at supporting Vital sectors in Yemen, raising their efficiency and enhancing their capabilities, including concern for the environmental side. The program sought to launch this campaign to activate the environmental sanitation in cooperation with the Cleaning Fund in Aden by providing the necessary support of equipment and mechanisms, in addition to afforestation and rehabilitation. Rh vital roads in Aden, in order to maintain the cleanliness of Aden and aware of what it achieved for the health of the members of the community.
Eng. Al Hadi indicated that the campaign comes within the activity of the development program in Yemen, as an extension of the projects that have received attention, and embodiment of the deep relationship between the two countries, realizing the common destiny and faith from the Kingdom, by lending a helping hand to the brothers in Yemen, according to a strategy and vision that is concerned with the Yemeni person first, and touches his needs Of services, with the aim of reducing the unemployment rate among Yemenis, moving the economy, and stabilizing the Yemeni currency.
Al Hadi expressed his great happiness with the hospitality and welcome that the members of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen receive from the local authority and the people in Aden Governorate and in the various Yemeni governorates in which the program exists to implement development projects that would contribute to strengthening the basic services provided to the Yemeni citizen.

The head of the Saudi delegation stated that the Saudi program for the development and reconstruction of Yemen is active during the last period in Aden to study the needs, explaining that a number of new projects will be announced in various sectors.
The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen supported the hygiene and environmental sanitation campaign with more than 22 heavy equipment and machinery and 220 containers, which created temporary job opportunities for more than 300 participants, and the campaign consisted of 12 field monitors, 80 participants from civil society organizations teams, and 40 members from farmers, giving everyone Daily rewards for their direct actions on the campaign.
The campaign defined the tasks of the field work teams that were formed in cooperation with the specialists of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the cleanliness fund in Aden and civil society organizations, and the work of the hygiene teams was divided into several areas based on the places of accumulation of waste that will be removed through more than 600 moves per month for a period of three months In the various regions of the province.
The campaign started from Sheikh Othman Directorate, which is considered the first station for work, and the cleaning process will be carried out according to a scheduled time plan, in which the cleaning period, which takes 9 days for each region, is defined.
The campaign is expected to remove 9,000 cubic meters of waste across the governorate.
The campaign includes a number of programs and accompanying events, including: the afforestation campaign, by planting 500 non-water-consuming seedlings, in an effort to ensure the principle of sustainability in the areas targeted in the campaign in addition to the rehabilitation and lighting of a number of vital roads in Aden.
It is noteworthy that the campaign of hygiene and environmental sanitation came after the cleanness fund lost in Aden nearly 60% of its mechanisms and equipment devoted to hygiene, which caused the accumulation of large quantities of solid and dirt wastes scattered in the neighborhoods and streets of the governorate, and the accumulated and growing waste formed in the spread of diseases and epidemics.
