WASHINGTON – Facebook Inc. announced its donation of $ 100 million to help media outlets that are experiencing an inherently difficult situation, exacerbated by the damage caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, to provide reliable information when it is badly needed.

“The media sector is working in exceptional circumstances to keep people up to date with all the developments related to the Covid-19 epidemic,” said Campbell Brown, who is responsible for collaborating with the company’s global media.

“As the press becomes more important than ever, advertising revenue has decreased due to the economic impact of the epidemic,” Brown said. “Local journalists are particularly affected, while people turn to them for essential information about the safety of their friends, family and community.”
