US stocks fell in early trading on Monday
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 145.62 points, or 0.76%, to 19,028.36 points.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index lost 14.21 points, or 0.62%, to record 2,290.71 points.
The Nasdaq Composite fell 32.23 points, or 0.47%, to 6,847.28 points.
The US Federal Reserve launched a number of exceptional new programs on Monday to mitigate the impact of the “severe disruptions” of the economy caused by the Corona virus, after lawmakers in Washington failed to pass stimulus measures, on Sunday.
The US central bank offered support programs for an unprecedented assortment of loans intended for individuals, small businesses, and large employers.
