The official Saudi Press Agency quoted a conference of the Ministry of Health spokesman as saying that 45 persons were confirmed to have contracted Corona, as part of tests conducted on about 4,000 people.

The ministry called on citizens not to shake hands and avoid organizing events in which the number of attendees exceeds 50 people.

While an official source in the Saudi Ministry of Interior, Fajr Al-Khamis, stated that it was decided to temporarily suspend the travel of citizens and residents to several new countries, including the European Union, and suspend flights to it.

“The kingdom’s government has decided to temporarily suspend travel of citizens and residents, and to suspend flights to each of the European Union (27 countries), Switzerland, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Sudan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Eritrea,” the agency said.

He continued, “as well as to the countries of Kenya, Djibouti, and Somalia,” adding “as well as suspending the entry of those coming from those countries, or the entry of those who were there during the 14 days prior to his arrival.”

He explained that this comes “in accordance with the preventive and precautionary measures recommended by the competent health authorities in the Kingdom, as part of its determined efforts to control the virus and prevent its entry and spread.”

He pointed out that the new decision “comes in conjunction with the decision of the Kingdom government; temporarily suspending the travel of citizens and residents to a number of countries (14 countries) in which the threat of the spread of the new Corona virus appeared.”

The movement of passengers through all land ports with the Kingdom of Jordan has also been suspended, while commercial and cargo traffic is still allowed, and the humanitarian and exceptional cases pass.

The decision gives a 72-hour period for citizens and those with valid residency for citizens of those countries to return to the Kingdom, before the travel suspension decision becomes effective.

The decision to suspend health practitioners working in the Kingdom has excluded citizens of the Philippines and India, evacuation, shipping and trade trips, with the necessary and necessary precautions taken.

The decision indicated that the Ministries of Interior and Health are coordinating to deal with humanitarian and exceptional cases, without prejudice to the necessary precautionary and preventive measures.

On Wednesday, the Saudi authorities announced the suspension of film screenings in cinemas and halls until further notice, fearing the outbreak of the Corona virus.

The rise in Corona’s injuries in Saudi Arabia coincides with measures taken by the Kingdom, including disrupting studies, banning religious lessons, and memorizing the Qur’an in all mosques, preventing i’tikaaf and fixing 15 minutes of Friday sermon.

And Saudi Arabia has previously announced the suspension of travel and the arrival of citizens and residents “temporarily” to and from 14 different countries around the world.

According to unofficial statistics, as of Wednesday evening, 128,597 people had been infected with Corona, in 125 countries and territories, and the virus had caused 4,655 deaths worldwide.
