Former Marseille club president Bab Diouf, 68, has died after being infected with the Corona virus, family sources said on Tuesday.
Senegal’s RTS confirmed the news of Diouf’s death.
Diouf was to be transferred from Dakar, the capital of Senegal, to the southern French city of Nice, by private health-equipped plane on Tuesday, but his plane did not take off because of his poor health before he died on Senegalese soil.
Diouf, the former journalist, chaired the French club Marseille from 200 to 2009 and contributed significantly to building the team that crowned the French League champion in 2010 after a 17-year fast.
Diouf was admitted to a Dakar hospital in recent days after being infected with the Corona virus and needed a respiratory system during his treatment.
