Basque final of the King’s Cup

Athletic Bilbao escaped from the trap of its host Granada and qualified for the Spanish Football Cup final despite losing 1-2 in front of them in the second leg of the semi-final, as they won 1-0 at home.

Granada, who reached the final one time in an orphan in 1959, overturned two goals scored by Carlos Fernandez (48) and German Sanchez (76), but the Basque team scored a late goal through left back Yuri Birchish (81) granted him the qualification card.

Bilbao, who eliminated Barcelona from the quarter-finals, hit a “basque” date in the final with Real Sociedad, who qualified at the expense of Mirandes of the second degree, who removed the other pole Real Madrid from the quarter-finals.

The final will be in Seville on April 18, in the first Basque final since 1927.

Bilbao dreams of winning his 24th Cup title and first since 1984 and reducing the difference with Barcelona (30 titles), while Sociedad was crowned twice in 1909 and 1987 and lost the final five times, most recently in 1988.
