Tunisian tennis player Anas Jaber put the end word in the sporting career of the famous Danish player Caroline Wozniacki by defeating her today, Friday, in the third round of the Australian Open, the first of the four Grand Slam tournaments.
Anas Jaber presented a strong match and an unexpected performance against the former world number one Wozniacki, who won the Australian Open title in 2018, and defeated 7/5, 3/6 and 7/5 in an exciting match that ended (2-1) and lasted a little more than two hours.
Anas Jaber had made a big surprise in the second round of the tournament, by defeating the 12th seed Johanna Konta of the tournament, before being followed by another surprise and beating Wozniacki today.
The current tournament was the last for Wozniacki before retiring, but she could not reach far in this tournament.
Wozniacki succeeded in responding to her loss in the first set of the match by winning in the second set, but she was unable to complete the return in the match and fell in front of her Tunisian opponent.
This is the first time in her sporting career that Anas Jaber reached the role of sixteen in one of the four Grand Slam tournaments.
Wozniacki won the championship two years ago, but then suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, ending 2018 in the worst form of her sporting career since 2007.
