Sources in the sector said that the Indian state of Gujarat Petroleum Company purchased the first LNG shipment from Qatar to start operating the recently constructed Mondra port.
The sources confirmed today, Thursday, that the shipment arrived this week.
The Indian government owns 75 percent of the Mondra liquefied natural gas terminal, which has a capacity of 5 million tons annually, while billionaire Gotam Adani holds the rest.
The port was scheduled to start operating in October, but its operation was postponed. The sources said that his work is now expected to start within two weeks.
