Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced on Tuesday the new government of 20 ministerial portfolios, which came after more than a month of stalled negotiations, amid continuing popular demonstrations rejecting the principle of quotas in the government, according to Sky News Arabia.

In detail .. the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Cabinet, Mahmoud Makiya, has announced 3 decrees, which are accepting the resignation of the Saad Hariri government, announcing the formation of the new government, and naming Hassan Diab as head of the Lebanese government. Of which.

Diab said in a press conference: “I came armed with the constitution and set specific standards for the government work team, and we have faced many difficulties in a country that does not have sufficient scientific statistics.”

He continued: “We have come to form the first government in the history of Lebanon in which it meets distinct specifications to meet exceptional circumstances, and with record speed.”

Regarding the characteristics of the new government, Diab explained that it is “a government that separates the prosecution from the ministry, so there are no deputies and no candidates”, stressing that it is “a government of specialists who do not hold an account except for the language of knowledge and experience.”

He added: “It is a government of non-partisans who are not affected by politics and its struggles … a government of young men and women looking for a promising future … a government of men exhausted by bitter experiences.”

Diab indicated at the press conference that the new government witnessed for the first time a woman as “Vice President”.

And he added, “It is the government of women, which participates in word and deed in the executive branch … a government in which women occupy the position of vice president for the first time in the history of Lebanon.”

The Lebanese Prime Minister stressed that “every minister is a technocrat, away from politics and parties,” noting at the same time that “consulting with political parties is a must, they are the ones who give confidence.”

Diab expressed his support for the Lebanese protesters, saying: “I salute the intifada, the revolution that pushed towards this path, is a government that expresses the aspirations of the protesters over the homeland during more than 3 months of anger.”

He concluded by saying, “We will work to translate their demands for the independence of the judiciary, the fight against corruption, the recovery of looted funds and the fight against unemployment.”
