The figure decreased to 1.6 million

Data issued by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai revealed the number of Saudi tourists who visited Dubai during 2019, and reached about 1.6 million visitors, representing 9.6 percent of the total number of visitors to the emirate, who reached 16.73 million visitors.

The data showed that the numbers of visitors from the Kingdom to Dubai decreased in 2019 by 20% compared to about two million visitors by the end of 2018, and that those numbers do not include visitors from other Emirates of the Saudis who did not register for one or more nights in Dubai hotels.

According to the data: These numbers do not include the residents of the Kingdom who are allowed by Dubai to visit them through easy procedures and electronic visas.

Governmental initiatives, especially with regard to exempting major markets such as the Chinese market from obtaining visas, greatly contributed to pushing investors to re-evaluate the study of investment opportunities in the emirate.

Dubai surpassed many international capitals in its investment attractiveness, especially in the hotel sector, where it recorded record levels and placed it among the most important global markets in conjunction with high occupancy rates.

It is noteworthy that Dubai is working to achieve the strategic tourism vision by reaching 20 million tourists, and adding 36 thousand rooms to its hotel portfolio to reach 140 thousand rooms by 2020.
