1- Warm chicken soup
It is advised to eat warm chicken soup that contains a little fat at lunchtime when getting a cold, because it contains anti-sore throats, and helps to strengthen the immune system.
2- Carrots and foods rich in vitamin A.
Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, spinach and cabbage are foods rich in vitamin A, which helps to strengthen the immune system, and eating it enhances the recovery process quickly.
3- Cold green tea
Drinking two cups of cold green tea daily helps to strengthen the immune system, because it raises the level of antioxidants in the body, provided it is not very cold and thus causes sore throats.
It is preferable to eat fresh garlic to prevent colds, as it contains the compound allicin that strengthens the immune system, and when there is difficulty in eating it fresh, there are capsules available with garlic extract that can be taken.
Eating blue berries than other fruits helps to overcome the common cold, as it contains more antioxidants, and berries can be eaten alone or added to yogurt, and thus contains vitamin D as well.
6- Herbal drinks
It is recommended to drink warm herbal drinks daily such as anise, which must be taken 3 times a day by adding a tablespoon of white honey to it, because it helps to calm sore throats, coughs and respiratory problems.
7- Oily fish
Some types of fish contribute to the treatment of colds, reduce inflammation in the body and strengthen the immune system, because they contain omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon and tuna.
8- Citrus fruit
Citrus fruits should be eaten in the winter because they contain vitamin C that helps fight a cold, such as oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit.
9- Milk and products rich in vitamin D.
You can drink a cup of milk, as well as yogurt and curd, as it contributes to fighting the cold and helps to relax and improve mood during cold weather.
Although there are hearsay linking consumption of milk products and increased mucus secretion, they are not scientifically proven.
