Dr. Magdy Badran, a member of the Egyptian Society of Allergy and Immunology, explained that corona viruses are a large group of viruses that cause diseases ranging from common colds to more severe diseases such as the Middle East respiratory syndrome and the new acute respiratory syndrome. Methods of infection

Many known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans, and there may be limited transmission from one person to another, possibly between families, but it is clear at this time that there is no continuous transmission from one person to another.

As for the methods of infection, a member of the Egyptian Society for Allergy and Immunology indicated that many patients who had contracted pneumonia in Wuhan have some connection with the seafood and animal market, which indicates the possibility of the virus spreading from animals to humans. However, some patients have not been exposed to animal markets, which indicates the possibility of some limited spread from person to person.

Therefore, Dr. Magdi Badran stressed the importance of travelers from Wuhan city in the state of China being examined and avoiding dealing with live or dead animals, away from animal markets, and animal-derived products, especially uncooked meat, in addition to avoiding contact with patients and washing hands for 20 seconds. At least with water constantly, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Dr. Magdy Badran explained that the common symptoms of infection with this virus, fever in 90% of the reported cases, fatigue and dry cough in 80%, dyspnea. Some cases that suffered from pneumonia and kidney failure were also detected.

Dr. Majdi Badran emphasized that there are many foods and vitamins that must be taken to obtain from natural sources and that work to strengthen immunity, such as vitamin C and folic acid, which can be obtained from some meat such as chicken or vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, artichoke, Lettuce.

A member of the Egyptian Society for Allergy and Immunology stressed the importance of obtaining vitamin D, as there is an inverse association between the level of vitamin D and colds and asthma, so the body must be exposed to the sun 15 minutes a day during the morning hours. Badran pointed out that we can get vitamin D through fish like salmon and tuna in addition to eggs.

Stay away from sources of stress

Dr. Magdy pointed out that stress and psychological stress weaken immunity and raise the rate of infection with microbes and viruses, as well as weakening infection rates with influenza.

There are also many herbs that work to strengthen immunity, such as guava leaf, licorice, fennel, oregano, melissa and thyme.
