Brian Hook, the US envoy to Iran, said thatIsmail Qaani Khalifa Qasim SoleimaniThe former commander of the Quds Force will meet the same fate if he follows the path of his predecessor.

Hook, who accompanied President Trump and his delegation to take part in the Davos actions, stressed that his country judged the Iranian regime with its actions rather than what the Iranian Foreign Minister, Muhammad Javad Zarif, said

He added on the sidelines of the work of the World Economic Forum, that the death of Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the “Jerusalem Corps” in the Iranian “Revolutionary Guard”, who was targeted by Washington with a military operation in Baghdad weeks ago, “created a vacuum that the Iranian regime will not be able to fill.”

The area will be safer

In an exclusive interview for Asharq Al-Awsat, Hook explained that his country neutralized “the most dangerous terrorist in the world from the battlefield. As a result, the region will become safer, because Soleimani was (the gum) that brings together Iran’s agents in the region.”

He pointed out, “the broad support that the defensive work we have done to protect US diplomats and soldiers, and to prevent a massive and imminent attack that Soleimani was planning on US diplomats and soldiers in the region to obtain.”

In addition, Hook stressed the need for the Security Council to move to renew the arms embargo to Iran, which ends under the nuclear agreement in October. He also said that his country condemns the Iranian regime with its actions and not what the Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, says.

Qaani was the deputy commander of the Qods Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and supervised the Guard forces and their militias in Syria and Iraq.

Soleimani’s approach will continue

The Iranian guide, Ali Khamenei, stressed that “Qahni is considered one of the most prominent leaders of the Revolutionary Guards during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, along with Soleimani.”

Khamenei affirmed that “the plans adopted during the reign of Soleimani will continue,” calling on all cadres in the Quds Force to cooperate with Qaani.

In addition to his position in the Quds Force, Qaqani was also the deputy intelligence staff of the Revolutionary Guards.

Qaani is known for his tough stances towards Israel, and he has an active presence in Syria and Iraq, but unlike Soleimani, he was little present in Iranian domestic politics.
