Sadio Mane – Roberto Firmino – Liverpool – Premier League
Mani won the award after competing with his Egyptian colleague Mohamed Salah and the Algerian Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City Pavilion, to end Salah’s control of it in the past two years.
“I am really happy that Mane won the award for best player in Africa … I would like to congratulate him on it,” Firmino said in comments highlighted by the Liverpool Echo newspaper.
“Mane’s confidence on the field is growing with days, and I think it is about adapting to the team. We’ve been playing together here for almost four years.”
“It is about training, improving every day, and doing well in games,” he added.
And about their celebration of their goals, the Brazilian jokingly explained, “I always tell Sadio that he imitates my celebrations, as he transcribes everything I do.”
“It’s really funny, we talk about a lot after the games,” he said.
The duo did not score in the last Reds match against Manchester United, which Liverpool won 2-0 thanks to Virgil Van Dyck and Mohamed Salah.
