The Moroccan national team, Wydad Casablanca, won a valuable victory at the expense of the Algerian capital Al-Ittihad with three goals to one in the meeting held at the “Sports Complex Mohamed V” stadium in the matches of the fifth round of the third group in the African Champions League competition.
The match is the first for French Sebastian Desperer, who led Wydad for the first time after his departure from Pyramids to succeed in leading the Moroccan team to qualify for the next round.
Wydad did not wait much after advancing in the seventh minute through Walid El Karti, Badi Aououk reinforced the result in favor of the Moroccan team in the 23rd minute.
Wydad striker Casadi Cassingo managed to score the third goal for the Moroccan champions in the 45th minute, before Rabie Moftah realized the Algerian team’s only goal in the match, specifically in the 79th minute.
This result gave Wydad the card to qualify for the quarter-finals after he raised his balance to nine points to keep the second position, in contrast, the capital federation balance stopped at only two points to formally deposit the championship.
The Sundowns will face its Angolan counterpart Petro Atlético tomorrow, Saturday, in the same group matches, where the South African champion leads the standings with ten points, in return, the Angola champion owns only two points.
