The Basra Operations Commander, Lieutenant General Qassim Nazzal, on Friday instructed the Iraqi army units to take to the streets to secure the outer perimeter of the presence of peaceful demonstrators.
In a statement, “Alsumaria News” received a copy, Nazzal said: “We directed the widespread presence of the Iraqi army in the province, in order to secure the external environment for the presence of peaceful demonstrators, and to prevent the entry of intruders, saboteurs, and rioters to the sit-in squares, provided that they do not leave the designated places and do not demonstrate in Public and open spaces, which have led to their targeting in the past two days. “
He added: “The leadership called, for more than once during its meetings with the coordination committees, not to demonstrate outside the designated places. Since the first day, the security forces began to launch the demonstrations, in order to protect the demonstrators.”
Nazzal pointed out that “the lack of commitment of some exposes us and them to a critical position and exposes them to direct targeting by outlaws.”
