Armed men assassinate a leader of the Basij militia in Ahvaz

Unidentified gunmen assassinated Colonel Abd al-Hussein Majdami, commander of the Basij militia, in the town of Dar Khoen, south of the Ahvaz region of Iran.

According to local sites, masked gunmen attacked Majdami’s house during the early hours of Wednesday morning, and shot him directly, killing him instantly.

Majdami is considered to be one of the officers involved in the IRGC operations in Syria during the past years.

Activists also accuse him of participating in a campaign to quell protests in the Ahvaz region last November, which killed more than 200 protesters.

Brian Hook, the US special representative for the Iranian file, said that Shawarpur was placed on the sanctions list, because he had “committed gross human rights violations against the demonstrators, and supervised a massacre of 148 unarmed citizens in the region of Machour last November.”

Iran had Admitted that the massacre occurredWhen the Special Security Forces and the Revolutionary Guards stormed the town of Al-Jarahi and other towns of Ma`shur, such as Koura and Khor Musa, and used tanks, machine guns, and heavy weapons to kill dozens of Arab youths and citizens, including children and women.
