A spokesman for the Iranian Football Association, Amir Mahdi Alawi, triggered a surprise regarding the withdrawal of Iranian clubs from the AFC Champions League and the Asian Football Confederation’s decision to play Iranian clubs outside of Iran because of the disturbing situation there.
Alawi said in statements to Iranian television: The AFC will issue an official statement in the coming hours, confirming that Iranian teams are hosting their competitors in the groups league in the AFC Champions League.
