Witnesses said the evidence gathered by federal prosecutors included a text message sent on May 10, 2018, from the phone of Lauren Sanchez, mistress of Bezos, to her brother Michael Sanchez containing a flirtatious message from the Amazon president.
The National Inquirer published in January 2019 the secret relationship between Bezos and Sanchez, and includes a text message sent from Sanchez phone to her brother on July 3, 2018, a picture of Bezos without a shirt.
The newspaper added that Sanchez ‘brother got $ 200,000 after submitting the photos to “American Media”, the publisher of the “National Inquirer”.
Brother Lauren is the only source
In addition, the Wall Street Journal reported that the “American Media” owner of the “National Inquirer” newspaper, which provided an investigation supported by photos and text messages about the secret relationship between Bezos and Sanchez, which led to the announcement of Bezos’ divorce from his wife, presented Michael Sanchez as “The only source” of her reports, noting that National Inquirer stated very clearly that “the only source of our reports is Sanchez.”
In turn, “American Media” company confirmed the credibility of the Saudi denial when it declared that “any hint of the involvement of a third party in our reports, or its influence in any way, is a false hint.”
A spokesman for the “American Media” company told American media, on Friday, that “in September of 2018, Michael Sanchez began providing all the material and information to our correspondents.”
“Any suggestion that a third party, such as Saudi Arabia, was involved or influencing in any way in our reports is not true,” he added.
The Wall Street Journal confirmed that Michael Sanchez refused to comment on the letters or his contract with American Media.
In turn, Lauren Sanchez did not respond to the request for comment from the American newspaper, while Bezos’ lawyers also refused to comment.
It is worth noting that Bezos previously accused the publisher of the National Enquirer newspaper that deals with news and scandals of stars and celebrities, who is described as a close friend of US President Donald Trump, of trying to blackmail him through blatant pictures of him with his lover, as he tried to portray the issue as a political battle between him, Especially since he is the owner of the Washington Post.
